The Ontario Stroke System

In 1998, the Heart and Stroke Foundation championed a three year administration project to develop and test a regionally based model of coordinated health care. In June 2000, the Minster of Health and Long Term Care announced the Ontario Stroke Strategy. Now, with the 4-year implementation phase complete, the ministry is calling the strategy the Ontario Stroke System and is allocating $30 million a year to support the regional stroke systems.
